A three-part documentary series about key events and characters in the history of the Sultanate of Oman.

Episode 1 – MONSOON EMPIRE Arab chronicles give account of Abu Ubayda Al Qassim, a merchant and scholar, who sailed the maritime silk road between Oman and China in the middle of the 8th century.

Episode 2 – THE ROUTE TO INDIA The legacy of the Omani navigator and author Ahmed bin Majid and the arrival of the Portuguese in the Gulf region at the beginning of the 16th century. Nasser bin Murshid and Oman’s struggle for independence in the 17th century.

Episode 3 – THE CALL OF ZANZIBAR The children of the ruler Sayyid Said bin Sultan and the fate of the Oman Empire in the Indian Ocean – including Zanzibar and the Swahili coast of East Africa – in the 19th and 20th century.
